Welcome to Sacramento Valley Working Dog Club

We are a working dog club that focuses on the sport of Schutzhund/IPO in Northern California from the greater San Francisco Bay area to Sacramento.

We are a full member club with both the United Schutzhund Clubs of America (UScA) and the American Working Malinois Association (AWMA).

Our training field is located in Vacaville, CA between Sacramento and the Bay Area, less than a mile off I-80. We have a beautiful regulation size grass training field with shaded parking.

Schutzhund is a 3 phase dog sport where dog/handler teams compete for titles in tracking, obedience, and protection. It requires extreme precision from both dog and handler and has been compared to a Triathlon for the working dog.  While it does take a tremendous amount of commitment, team work, and dedication to train and prepare for all 3 phases of the sport, it is extremely rewarding.

Our Training Director/Helper is David Dembouski who also offers private training/coaching sessions 7 days a week.

Our club works to promote and preserve working temperament for all 3 phases of the sport, and conformation of all working breeds. We welcome all levels of dog/handler teams as long as they want to learn, are committed to the work it takes to compete in Schutzhund, have a dog with correct temperament, and choose to train using a positive/motivational approach.
